Braving the sweltering heat and hot air waves which had enveloped the CLTA courts on Sunday morning,a determined Rahul Verma made his point clear when he made his maiden entry into the main draw of an AITA event after defeating Chiraz 8-4 in the Under-12 singles category in the AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament being played at the CLTA Complex on Sunday. The 12-year-old CLTA CHART trainee had a broad smile after the proceedings,while his CLTA mate Jagdeep Singh also could not stop flashing his smile after a hard-fought 8-7 (2) victory over Abir Hiranandini 8-7 to qualify for the main draw in the U-12 singles category.

Meanwhile,Kamal Kishore Maderana made short work of Prabsimran Singh Bal whom he outplayed 8-1 in the U-16 category. Chirag Bajwa of Chandigarh played good shots all over the court to beat Ishant Cheema without letting him opening his account to score an easy 8-0 win. The other players who too made it into the main draw were Yashvardhan Singh from Haryana and Paramveer Singh Bajwa of Punjab.

In the U-16 girls category,Chandigarh players dominated the court as Nimrat Walia drubbed Shefally Sharma 8-2 ,while Prinkle Singh displayed fine tennis talent to beat Sanjam Nanda 8-0. On the other hand,Saumya Saxena had a tough outing against Aanandita Tandon who offered tough resistance but eventually conceded the match in a tiebreaker as Saumya won 8-7 (3).
