Punjabi Vibes

Bitten by the ‘Punjabi’ bug,model-cum-actress Rishika Kaushal and musician Baba Honey have come together to release their debut album,Balle Balle Punjabi. In the city for the launch,the duo from Mumbai already have a video streaming on air called Punjabiyan di Balle. “We just love the Punjabi spirit and culture,and having grown up with it,we wanted to pay tribute to Punjabis worldwide,” says Kaushal,who has acted in the video,while Honey has given the music,lyrics and sung all the songs in the album.

“It’s a foot-tapping album with six tracks — two romantic and four dance numbers,” says Honey,who,along with Kaushal,originally belongs to Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh.

With Punjabi singer Mika as his guru and inspiration,Honey says the album was just an excuse to let people know “they’ve arrived”. “There is no money in CDs or releasing music online. The money lies in live shows. We’ve released the album through our own music company,K Company,and wanted people to know about it,” he says. Next in line is a Hindi romcom. “It will be called Balle Punjabi and will have three pairs in the lead,” say the two in unison.
