Injured Punjabi man dies in Italy after being dumped on roadside by employer
Satnam Singh, an illegal immigrant. was cutting hay when his arm was chopped off by the machine.

An Indian farm laborer working in Italy died on Wednesday after being left by the roadside following an accident that severed his arm, an act condemned as “barbaric” by Italy’s labor minister.
Satnam Singh was injured on Monday while working on a farm in Latina, a rural area south of Rome, home to tens of thousands of Indian migrant workers. According to labor minister Marina Calderone, Singh was abandoned in critical condition after the accident. She reported the incident to parliament, calling it “a true act of barbarity.”
Singh, aged 30 or 31 and working without legal documentation, was cutting hay when a machine severed his arm, as reported by the Flai CGIL trade union. Instead of receiving help from his employers, he was abandoned near his home, described by the union as being treated “like a bag of rubbish,” comparing the scene to a “horror film.”
The police stated they were alerted by Singh’s wife and friends, prompting the dispatch of an air ambulance. “He was flown to a hospital in Rome but succumbed to his injuries around midday,” a police spokesman in Latina
reported.
The center-left Democratic Party condemned Singh’s treatment in the Latina area, which is notorious for worker exploitation, calling it a “defeat for civilization.” The party emphasized on X, “The fight against gangmasters and for dignified and humane living and working conditions must continue to be our priority.”
The incident is being investigated.
