A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Punjab, Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal, has offered a reward of $100,000 to anyone who blackens the face of Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, the US-based founder of the banned separatist organisation Sikh for Justice (SFJ), and slap him.

In a tweet, Grewal stated that he had made this announcement after the leader of the pro-Khalistan group offered a reward of $100,000 to anyone who can throw a shoe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Assam on April 14.

Grewal said that Pannu has been given a tit-for-tat reply. “Pannu will also not be able to look at our PM”.

He said that Punjab is a holy land blessed by the footsteps of Rishis, Munis, Pirs, Fakirs and Gurus. “This holy land is a land of mutual love and ‘seva’ (service). Like parents all over the world, our respected elderly parents in Punjab have given birth to their sons to support them in their old age and take care of their legacy, not to die,” he said.

Grewal added that there were some bad elements living in foreign lands who wanted to “break our country and our mutual harmony”.
