Holding a protest outside the V-C office to get their demand fulfilled seems to be the mantra for the Panjab University students. In a sequence of protests in the recent days, another demonstration was staged outside the V-C office by students today. This was against the refusal by the PU authorities to hold a placement camp organised by the students on their own initiative on the campus. After the protest, permission was finally granted.
The protest was held by the ABVP in the morning. We were denied space in the Law Auditorium to conduct Jobfest-2010. The university authorities are biased against ABVP, said partys organising secretary Dinesh Chauhan. After nearly an hour, the authorities accepted their demand and permitted them to use the Law Auditorium.
In the last three days, several protests have been staged outside the V-C office. ABVP,a student organisation of the university,in association with the Orion Consultancy,is organising a placement camp on April 2. More than 20 companies, including Piramal Healthcare,Tech-Mahindra,ICICI Bank,The Miracle Group,Dabur,Genpact,Martynn Brown,Asian Paints and so on will participate in the camp.
Fools day with a difference
Claiming it to be a serious message delivered in a lighter vein, the Panjab University Campus Students Council and SOPU members presented bouquets to the dummies of Vice-Chancellor R C Sobti,Panjab University Teachers Association president Manjit Singh and unofficial Boston teams. Students said this way, they wanted to highlight that the V-C failed to deliver many of his promises and befooled the students.
