PU law dept alumni relive old memories

It was an evening to remember,of good old memories,bear hugs,receding hairlines and pot bellies too as old students of Panjab Universitys Law Department converged for an annual meet here.

The ones who attended included judges,lawyers,businessmen and senior government officers who got together to relive the days gone by at a hotel in Sector 35. The meet was attended by around 60 people comprising nine high court judges,two IPS officers,one IAS officer and lawyers.

Among the prominent who attended were Justice Mahesh Grover,Justice PPS Mann,Justice S S Saron,Justice Mohinder Pal,Justice Ajay Tiwari,Justice Kawaljit Ahluwalia,Justice Rajan Gupta,Justice Rajeev Narain Raina,Justice Tajinder Dhindsa,senior IPS officers Suresh Arora and Hardeep Dhillon,G S Mangat senior bureaucrat,business tycoon Achru Ram Sharma,MD of Ricela Brand,Rohit Tandon,leading lawyer at Delhi.

The annual event was well attended and people made it from far off places in Punjab,Haryana,Himachal Pradesh and Delhi, said Parveen Goel,Additional Advocate General,Punjab,one of the organisers.

This year we had organised the meet for students from 1979-85 batch. Not only we shared our present day experiences but also reminisced those from our department days, added Parveen Goel. He is an alumnus from the 1982 batch. The members of this batch organise this reunion every year.

The chairperson of the department Nishtha Jaswal and the former chairperson P S Jaswal who is now the Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law,Patiala were also present on the re-union. They both are alumni of the department.

The Class of 1982 took the initiative to organise the get together and invited students from their senior and junior batches. The gathering thanked Parveen Goel,Jaspreet Singh Ahluwalia,Gulshan Sharma,P S Bajwa for taking initiative of organising the alumni meet.
