PSEB Class 12 Results 2025: 91% students pass, Harseerat Kaur from Barnala tops with perfect 100%

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Wednesday announced the Class 12 results 2025, with a pass percentage of 91 per cent, 2 percentage points lower than last year.

Announcing the results, PSEB chairman Dr Amarpal Singh attributed the drop in pass percentage to the strict measures the board took to curb cheating during examinations.

Harseerat Kaur from Barnala is the Class 12 topper. A student of Sarvhitkari Senior Secondary Vidya Mandir, Barnala, she achieved a perfect score of 500 out of 500 marks (100 per cent).

The second position was secured by Manveer Kaur from the Science stream, with 498 out of 500 marks (99.60 per cent). She is a student of S S Memorial Senior Secondary Public School, Kassoana (Ferozepur). The third position was claimed by Arsh Nahi from the Humanities stream, who also scored 498 out of 500 marks (99.60 per cent). She is a student of Shri Tara Chand Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Bhikhi (Mansa). Although both students scored the same marks, Manveer Kaur was awarded the second position due to being younger.

The chairman said 2,65,388 students appeared for the exams, out of which 2,41,506 students passed. The pass percentage among girls was 94.32 per cent, while it was 88.08 per cent among boys. Notably, all three transgender students who took the exam cleared it.

The pass percentage in rural areas was 91.20 per cent, slightly higher than the 90.74 per cent in urban areas. Government schools recorded a pass percentage of 91.01 per cent, private schools 92.47 per cent, and aided schools 86.86 per cent.

Regarding stream-wise performance, Science stream topped with a pass percentage of 98.52 per cent, followed by Commerce at 96.83 per cent, Vocational at 90 per cent, and Humanities at 87.58 per cent.

District-wise, Amritsar topped with a pass percentage of 96.29 per cent, followed by Gurdaspur (95.84 per cent) and Pathankot (94.21 per cent). Ironically, Barnala, the home district of the topper Harseerat Kaur, recorded the lowest pass percentage at 86.07 per cent.

In the merit list, Ludhiana outshone all other districts with 55 students making it to the list. Hoshiarpur followed with 31 students, Patiala with 30, Jalandhar with 25, Amritsar with 16, Ferozepur with 15, and SAS Nagar with 13 students. Notably, not a single student from the Malerkotla district was featured on the merit list.
