Various employees associations of Punjab Civil Secretariat (PCS) today threatened to gherao the Chief Secretary next week,if their demand for the allotment of plots is not accepted.
In a joint release,Tejbir Walia,Darshan Bhateja and Gurnam Singh, presidents of the Associations, said all their requests for the allotment of plots to the secretariat employees have been thrown in the dustbin by the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
They argued that the land was acquired by the government and that GMADA/PUDA were created for the development of acquired land. The first right for the allotment of plots is that of Punjab government employees posted in PCS, they said, while offering to pay the actual price of the plots.
There was a proposal to allot 350 square yards plots to at least 200 employees to whom small plots or flats were allotted in 2001.
The Associations sought the intervention of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
