‘PPP will consider NRI candidates’

The People’s Party of Punjab is set to become the first party to accept the candidature of NRIs and give tickets to the deserving candidates among them for the January 30 polls, said Amanpreet Singh Chhina, joint secretary and in-charge of PPP’s NRI wing on Sunday.

The People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) is set to become the first party to accept the candidature of NRIs and give tickets to the deserving candidates among them for the January 30 polls, said Amanpreet Singh Chhina, joint secretary and in-charge of PPP’s NRI wing on Sunday.

“PPP has been receiving very positive response from the US,Canada,Australia and UK. Many NRIs have come and others are coming to Punjab to support the party during the elections. The PPP has become the first and the youngest party in the country which will accept NRI candidature,” he said.

He added that in future,NRIs will play a key role in cleaning the Indian political system and make it free from corrupt politicians.

“In the past, they have contributed to the Punjab economy by investing in different sectors. But due to high corruption in the state, there is now reluctance in further investing in mega projects. The PPP will take solid policy decisions to win back their trust and encourage them to invest in various projects in Punjab,” said Chhina.
