The Postal Department has offered Panjab University authorities to avail services like Speed Post and Registered post for dispatching of roll numbers to the students. In response to the statement of Prof A K Bhandari,Controller of Examinations,PU,carried in the news item PU exams failed to keep dates – the Department of Posts mentioned that The department has not created any hurdle by discontinuing UPC services and there are so many services available with Department of Posts (DOP). PU can switch over to services like Registered and Speed post. PU authorities have been provided Special Booking Journals for booking registered letters in bulk on their own,but these are not being used for dispatching the roll numbers. Moreover,PU is dispatching the roll numbers at the nick of time and not well in advance.
Special arrangement for sorting and dispatch of roll numbers,on the same day posted by the PU,at short notice is being done by deploying additional manpower in Sorting Office,Chandigarh.
