An artist treats painting as the pathway to positive living

The pencil has been her constant companion. Through school and college,The Fore School of Management,Kavneet Aggarwal was a compulsive doodler. Her creations showed up on work sheets, blackboards and at times on desks. So it came as no surprise that after completing a post graduation course, she decided to pursue her first love — art. “Just focusing on sketching and painting did not give me much happiness. There was something missing,” says the city-based artist.

She found her answer in vaastu,Feng Shui and yoga .

She clubbed these with an art consultancy. “I combined the two things I enjoyed most — mediation and art and formed my company Artizens, where I now concentrate on paintings that have positive energies and are in sync with the principles of Feng Shui,” says Aggarwal, who shows us around the Bistro, where she’s hosted her second solo exhibition of bold, abstract works.

On display are paintings rich in colour and geometrical designs. A work titled Secret to Love comprises four squares, interlinked with dark outlines that seem to give emphasis to a strong bond of love. “For me it symbolises connectivity and close relations,” says Aggarwal.

Another work that represents love for her is a painting in which circles and abstract figures are connected in a pattern that represents a golden chain. Yet another, titled Prosperity has smaller circles that fill up a big square.

“I have been working on this show for a year,” says Aggarwal, whose figurative work is titled Piety of Love. It focuses on a close-up of red roses in full bloom, set against an image of Buddha, highlighted in bright shades of yellow and orange.

Predictably, more than love or peace, the canvas dedicated to money is the crowd puller. Titled Abundance it has all the shades of currency — greens, blues and bronze, all done in the shape of a five rupee coin, merging with a floral print.

The exhibition is on at Bistro Flamme Bois,Sector 7,till November 30.
