PM honours Sobti for lifetime achievement

Prof R C Sobti,Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University has been honoured by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his contribution to the development of science and technology in the country at the 98th Indian Science Congress session held at Chennai. A communication received by Prof Sobti from Prof K C Pandey,General President of the Indian Science Congress Association,Kolkata,said,“You have played key role in the development of Science and Technology and considering your contributions and achievements,the 98th Indian Science Congress will be honouring you with the General President’s Gold Medal.”

Congratulating Prof Sobti,Pandey said,“The Association has always admired the tenor of Indian scientists,who brave various odds and still shine as luminaries,setting examples for the future generations”. The Congress was held at SRM University,Chennai. Prof Sobti has already received a large number of national and international awards,medals and honours to acknowledge his multifarious contributions to scientific research and academic excellence.
