Panchkula DCP issues orders prohibiting illegal mining

The Deputy Commissioner of Police,Parul Kush Jain,has ordered prohibition of illegal mining within the entire jurisdiction of police in Panchkula,as a measure of emergency,in view of the increasing number of complaints received regarding illegal mining.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Panchkula),Parul Kush Jain,has ordered prohibition of illegal mining within the entire jurisdiction of police in Panchkula,as a measure of emergency,in view of the increasing number of complaints received regarding illegal mining.

The order entails that no tractor-trolley fitted with hydraulic jack,four tyres or iron cart will be allowed within a radius of 200 meters from a river bed,in addition to JCB machines,excavation machinery or transport vehicles. Screening or stocking of mining material will also not be allowed within the radius of one kilometer of river beds. The prohibition order also mentions that any steps taken by administration to curb illegal mining activities — like digging of trenches — are not to be interfered with in any manner.

The order has been passed under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code and is in compliance with previous orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court to prohibit illegal mining.
