Panchkula: Attempted break-in caught on CCTV cameras

An attempt was made by miscreants to break into a house in Panchkula Sector 6 on the intervening night of June 13-14.

An attempt was made by miscreants to break into a house in Panchkula Sector 6 on the intervening night of June 13-14. Meenakshi Garg (35),a housewife, and her two children were inside their home when they saw a white Skoda car stop at her residence in the CCTV (Close Circuit Television) camera installed at the entrance.

“Three people came out of the car and tried to force entry into the house by breaking the gate and the CCTV camera with a rod. They were drunk and started abusing and thrashing our security guard whom I had directed to go out and inspect,” says Meenakshi. She claims that one of the assailants,a resident of Chandigarh Sector 16,is known to her and has a past animosity with her husband.

Next, she called the security agency Global Securex, whose services she has availed for her house and who claim to reach within minutes upon an emergency call by their clients in Panchkula. She alleges that she had to call four times, and literally shout, before a patrol van arrived and after they came, they were mere spectators.

She alleges that one of the intruders had a pistol on him and called out their names, threatening to kill them. The CCTV camera footage shows a man carrying a rod but no pistol can be seen on anyone and no shot was fired.

“The assailants ran away after they saw the security van approach. We asked the security agency people to pursue them but they just kept standing there, oblivious to my appeals,” says Ajay Rana, the family’s security guard. The CCTV camera footage shows the security van arriving at the house, followed by a medical van.

The security guard from Global Securex,Ram Kumar, who reached at the spot clarifies that they are given directions only to ensure the safety of the clients and not pursue the miscreants.

“We were moving from Panchkula Sector 7 towards Mansa Devi Complex when we received instructions to reach the spot, where we arrived in three minutes. We were told by the security guard there that no one had entered the house and that the family was safe. It is not a part of our duty to catch the intruders, but not to leave the site for the security of the client,” he says.

A PCR (Police Control Room) van came after the family called the Police. The security guard was sent for a medical examination and an FIR (First Information Report) will be lodged once they receive the CCTV camera footage from the 4 cameras in the house, according to the Police.

Meenakshi claimed that she felt dizzy but the medical crew refused to assist her or her children in any manner. Lt Col. Dogra,Director at Global Securex, refutes the claim. “There is no reason why she would not be medically examined since the crew was already there. The paramedics asked if she needed any check-up but she refused saying that she was only scared. We are trying to retrieve a video and audio coverage of the interaction with her to prove the same,” he says.

The woman’s husband was not present in the house and he is recuperating from a kidney transplant operation.
