Pakistani manager Intikhab Alam needed neither a local guide nor a map to check out the hot spots of Chandigarh.

Having stayed in the city for more than two years when he used to coach the Punjab Ranji side,Alam made use of the time that he and his wife had on Sunday by going for shopping in Sector 17.

The Raymonds showroom was their first stop. Alam bought material for himself and then went to Iqbal Tailors to get his dress stitched. The couple then visited the Music World showroom and bought DVDs of old Hindi movies in addition to CDs of folk Punjabi music and ghazals. Being huge fans of Surinder Kaur and Mohammed Rafi, they bought their collections.

Alam’s wife wanted to buy a salwar kameez from Phulkari, but to her dismay, the shop was found shut, said Sub-Inspector Sarabjit Sekhon. She also asked Sarabjit for a sweet shop.
