A rapid action team of 50 women personnel is being deployed in the city to carry out house to house surveys and check antecedents of people who have rented out accommodations as well as domestic servants working in the city. The move comes after the robbery in Sector 7 in the city on Thursday, where a domestic servant was the mastermind.
Police Commissioner,Panchkula-Ambala range,Rajbir Deswal, said the women were being employed to collect details of tenants, domestic servants and paying guests in urban areas of Panchkula.
The women personnel, drawn from the Rapid Action Force (RAF) of the police that remains at the disposal of the Director General of Police and is used for purposes like tackling protests,is being deployed for the house-to-house survey.
Deswal said the move to deploy the woman police personnel was to bring police service to peoples doorsteps. The survey comes after residents, particularly the senior citizens, fail to report cases of tenants at the concerned police station. Deswal said the police, instead of taking action against the owners of the house-holds,would approach them to build a data base of tenants and domestic servants in the city. The matter was discussed at the meeting of the police,on Friday,in which station house officers of different police stations participated, police said. They added that visits by the RAF personnel would begin in the next few days. The survey will be carried out in the afternoon for 2-3 hours each day.
