UT Administration Home Secretary Ram Niwas today visited the Government Senior Secondary School in Sector 26 as part of the ongoing initiative to inculcate various moral values in the government school students. He spoke to the students about the need to maintain good hygiene,brushing teeth before going to bed at night. He enlightened them about the benefit of consuming green vegetables and increased intake of water. Niwas spoke to them about the harmful effects of consuming junk food and aerated drinks. He asked the principal of the school to get the health of the students monitored regularly under the school health scheme.
Niwas also visited the Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology to review the status of projects and working of the college and hostel. He instructed the Engineering Department to immediately renovate the canteen by providing modern facilities in the canteen. He directed principal Dr BS Pabla to ensure that hygiene be given the top priority in the students mess and a qualified contractor should only be given the charge.
Home Secretary also visited the boys and girls hostel and inspected the students mess,students room,common room and other facilities. Niwas asked the Principal to replace the furniture in the students mess and common immediately.
Govt schools to remain open for National GamesAll government schools,which are venues for National School Games,will remain open till October 27 and classes will be held as usual. Those government schools,where students participating in the games are staying,will have classes only from Class XI to XII till October 27.
