Nandan Nilekani,Chairman,Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI),met K K Sharma,Advisor to the UT Administration on Thursday to appreciate the co-operation extended,which had resulted in fast-paced Aadhaar enrolments. Nilekani congratulated the UT Administration on the fact that Chandigarh had seen 7 lakh enrolments.
Welcoming the UIDAI Chairman,KK Sharma said that the UT had already notified Aadhaar as valid Proof of Identity/ Proof of Address for various government schemes.
Director General,UIDAI RSSharma who was accompanying Nilekani,also thanked the UT Administration for initiatives related to Aadhaar enrolment and the Aadhaar enabled payment system.
RS Sharma said that pilot studies related to Social Security payments and the Slum Rehabilitation project based on Aadhaar Authentication had been quite successful and amply demonstrated the efficiencies the Aadhaar enabled payment system or service delivery can bring to existing systems.
It was agreed by the Advisor and the UIDAI that soon Aadhaar Enabled Payment will be extended to other beneficiaries of UT in the departments like Students Scholarship,PDS and Property Registration etc.
