Tricity-based multifaceted artist Poonam Arora has established a new art studio, ‘Studio Art Life’, at NAC, Manimajra, Chandigarh. The newly opened space aims to provide both budding and established artists with a platform to create, collaborate, and exhibit their work.

During an interaction with the media and artists at the studio, Arora spoke about her journey and the idea behind creating Studio Art Life. She said, “Having been an artist for many years, I understand the emotions, struggles, and dedication that every artist carries. During my journey, I often found it challenging to find the right place to display my works as a solo artist. That experience inspired me to create a space that is not just for my art, but one that welcomes artists from all backgrounds to showcase their creations.”

Arora added that the studio will also host topical art workshops and creative activities to give the Tricity’s art culture a new boost. She said, “We plan to hold workshops and discussions here so that the local art scene gets a facelift and artists have a platform to connect and learn.”

Speaking about her personal bond with art, Poonam said, “I live for art and want to immerse myself in it. This initiative is very close to my heart. My aim behind starting ‘Studio Art Life’ is to completely devote myself to art and explore its endless possibilities through this space where creativity can grow and evolve.”

The studio’s opening also marked the start of its inaugural multi-artist exhibition, which began this week and will continue till Sunday, November 2. The show brings together the works of 14 artists, including Arora, and displays 22 paintings, three sculptures, and a special collection of decoupage artworks — a unique art form made by gluing coloured paper cut-outs or napkins onto objects to create decorative effects.

Arora’s own paintings in the exhibition are figurative, semi-abstract, and contemporary, inspired by emotion, observation, and imagination. She said, “Art, to me, is a reflection of life. My works express what I feel and see around me.”
The participating artists’ works explore different styles and subjects — from nature and spirituality to emotion and culture — bringing together a sense of unity in diversity that reflects the spirit of Studio Art Life.

Explaining why she chose to open with a group show, Arora said, “I wanted the launch of Studio Art Life to be a collective celebration of creativity. A multi-artist exhibition allows different voices and styles to come together and start a beautiful conversation through art. I truly believe that art grows stronger when shared.”
In conclusion, Arora said, “I want Studio Art Life to be not just a place for displaying art, but a warm and welcoming community. For young artists, it will provide exposure and encouragement; for established ones, it will offer a professional and respectful space to share their work.”
