The municipal corporation will soon be framing rules and regulations for the appointment of Sub-Divisional Engineers (SDEs). These would be presented before the House for approval within three months. This was decided during the House meeting of the municipal corporation held today.
The agenda for filling up posts of SDEs by promotion as a one-time measure was brought before the house. This was opposed by the councillors and the advertisement for filling up the posts was withdrawn.
Councillor Pardeep Chhabra also said that a consolidated list of staff requirement for the civic body should be provided to the House and recruitment done.
Another proposal put forward was that manpower hired for sanitation purposes through contractors should be paid through cheques directly by the civic body.
Councillor Chander Mukhi Sharma asked why the civic body was not getting reports about the meetings pertaining to the Garbage Processing Plant.
Questions were also raised about the award given to the garbage plant by CII for being the best solid waste management plant in the country. The House was informed that the civic body has written to CII about the opinion of the civic body on the issue not being considered.
The councillors also passed the estimates for carpetting of roads as well as laying paver blocks in various sectors. The municipal corporation would be taking up the development of Valley of Animals; however,it was felt that the name of this park be changed.
The House approved the proposal for stoppage of waste water into N-Choe.

Councillor Brigadier K S Chandpuri (Retd) raised the issue of setting up an international stadium with Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal.
He said the city needs an international stadium so that the youth and sportspersons have state-of-the-art facilities available to them. Bansal said he would take up the matter with the Sports Minister. Some councillors suggested that the land that has been acquired for the Filmcity project that has been scrapped be allotted for the stadium.
The delay in setting up of the Martyrs Memorial in the Terraced Garden in Sector 32 was discussed.
Mayor Anu Chatrath said it would be completed by August 15. It was also suggested that care be taken to include names of all martyrs from the city in it.
