The official car of Finance Secretary Sarvjit Singh was taken into custody and parked at the residence of petitioner Sanjay Majithia, who is the son of former high court judge G R Majithia, on his ‘supardaari’ (responsibility).
On keeping the official car (CH-01G-0007) at his house no. 46 in Sector 9, Sanjay said that he took the car into his possession in the presence of court officials on his ‘supardaari’ and would hand it over to the authorities by following the due process.
The court of Civil Judge Senior Division, K K Jain, acting on the execution application of Sanjay, ordered attachment of the cars bearing registration numbers CH-01G-0001, CH-01G-0007, CH-01G-0005, CH-01G-0006, CH-01G-0004, CH-01G-0899, CH-01G-3000 and official furniture including computers of Estate Office in Sector 17, offices of UT Adviser and UT Finance Secretary, in its order on October 31.
The orders were issued after the administration failed to comply with the court orders to mutate the property of Sanjay’s grandfather in his name. He had filed a case in the court on June 6, 2010, seeking the mutation of a house in Sector 9 in his name. After the trial, the court ordered mutation of the property in Sanjay’s name on February 27 this year but the administration failed to comply with the orders following which he again approached the court in August this year, seeking attachment of the property of the UT Administration.
The court then asked Sanay to give the list of the property which he wanted to get attached. After this, the court ordered attachment of the property on October 31.
An official of the UT Estate Office on condition of anonymity said that they had complied with the orders on their part, but the opposite party did not pay stamp duty to complete the process.
