An alumnus of the Department of Indian Theatre,Panjab University,Chandigarh,Jhingran and Khan were classmates at the University. “I share his philosophy of education for the underprivileged through theatre and am here to support the cause. I am also planning a mega charity show in the near future,which will raise funds for his NGO. I am their brand ambassador not only on paper,but in spirit,” he says,referring to his song Hum Kal Accha Banain that was written for the UN. “My background is of classical music,having roots in the Bijnor music gharana of UP and I believe that my voice represents my earth and my roots.”

The training in theatre,Jhingran points out,reflects in both his lyrics and voice,for he believes art has to touch people and make a difference to their lives. “Poetry with aesthetics and deep reflection is my aim,as art must have a greater purpose than commercial interests,” he says. “I’ve got tremendous support from Javed Akhtar,Sudhir Mishra,Pritam and it’s been a soulful journey,” he says. As of now,Jhingran is working on his own album,Sonu Nigam’s new project and also writing for Priyadarshan’s upcoming Ram Leela.
