Showing great courage and skills,Mukesh Kumar,a handicap,bagged a silver medal while representing India in the International Wheel Chair and the Amputee Sports Federation World Games from November 22 to December 2 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium,Bangalore. The 28-year-old Mukesh,winner of National Award from Prime Minister of India,had earlier won gold in the Paralympics Games in Malaysia,Japan and France.
Chinmaya,Ronit bowl Little Flower to win
Inspired bowling spells from Chinmaya (3 for 2) and Ronit (3 for 18) helped Little Flower Convent School record an easy seven-wicket win over Holy Child School in the inaugural match of Bhavan’s Cup played at Bhavan Vidyalaya,Sector 15,on Saturday. Batting first after winning the toss,Holy Child lost their first six wickets for only 15 runs. Their batsmen could not face some accurate and swing bowling from Little Flowers bowlers. Later Dhruv (17) tried to recover his team from the damage but the whole team skittled out for 50 runs in 9.1 overs. Chasing the modest total,Little Flower made a steady start through openers Chinmaya (11) and Aisha (6). They easily won the match with seven wickets in hand.
Rohit reigns supreme
Rohit Bajaj took the honours in the boys’ above 16 years Quads category during the 15th Panchkula District Roller Skating Championship organised by the District Roller Skating Association,Panchkula,at the skating rink,Bhawan Vidyalaya School,Sector 15. Anshul Sharma won the boys’ 14 to 16 Quads category. Tajas Bhardwaj and Hargun emerged winners in Under-4 boys’ and girls’ Quads category,while Raghav and Sakhsi Grover bagged the 4 to 6 boys’ and girls’ Quads titles,respectively. Uday Vir (boys’ 6 to 8 In Line),Aryan Pal Singh and Divya Dhawan (6 to 8 boys and girls Quads),Ashely Dahuja and Raisa (6 to 8 boys and girls In Line),Uday Magu and Priyanka Gupta (8 to 10 boys and girls Quads),Harsh Gupta (boys 8 to 10 Inline),Aditiya Gandhi and Meghna Bisht (10 to 12 boys and girls Quads),Rushat Prihar (boys 10 to 12 inline),Siddhant Gulati and Tanya Verma (12 to 14 boys and girls Quads) were the other winners.
Bharti wins all-round gymnast title
Bharti of SGGC School,Sector 26,won the all-round best gymnast title during the 36th Chandigarh State Gymnastics Championship for Boys and Girls (Seniors,Juniors & sub-Juniors) in artistics,acrobatics,aerobics,rhythmisc and trampoline at Sector 7 Gymnasium Hall on Saturday. Bharti won the floor and uneven bars events,respectively,to cement her position for the top title. Following her closely was Aditi Pandey of St Stephen’s School,Sector 45,who claimed the balance beam and table vault events,respectively.
