Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Academy of Amritsar fought well to beat Mehta Gurukul Academy of Doraha,by 4-2 in a keenly contested match during the ONGC 9th SN Vohra Junior Hockey Tournament being played at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium in Chandigarh on Wednesday. Meanwhile,Shivalik Public School Hockey Academy of Mohali pipped Malwa Khalsa School of Ludhiana by 5-1 in an easy outing during the second match of the day.
In the first match,MRS Academy were the first to score through Arshdeep in the 10th minute while three minutes later Mehta Gurukul Academy restored parity through Milappreet. Then the issue was decided on penalties. In the second enocunter,Shivalik Academy were up by two goals within eight minutes of play. Sahil struck first in the fifth minute while Maninder doubled the margin in the eighth minute. The lone goal for Malwa Khalsa School came from Harmanpreet in the 16th minute. Before the first half,Harkirat made it 3-1 for the winners.On resumption,Maninder (41st) and Harkirat (54th) added one goal each to the score of Shivalik Public School Academy.
