Mother-daughter murder case solved,claim cops

Addressing a press conference,SAS Nagar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gurpreet Singh Bhullar,said “Robbery was the motive behind the murder. The accused use to frequent the shop run by the deceased under the house to buy cigarettes and had eyed the jewellery worn by Shikha.”

He added that the initial questioning of the accused has revealed that there is no involvement of Vineet and Pradeep Jindal in the murder. Both had been suspected of the murder by Anchal,elder daughter of Shikha .

The police have also ruled out any link between the MMS clipping and the double murder. Soon after the double murder,police had suspected a link with the MMS clipping in which a group of girls had allegedly stripped one of their friends outside a Panchkula hotel and filmed a five-minute MMS of hers and later circulated it. Shikha’s elder daughter was part of the group which was involved in making the MMS.

Police said,the two accused had hatched the plan after noticing the jewellery worn by the deceased. On the day of the murder,the two reached the house around 2 pm on a silver colour motorcycle. They entered the house after parking the bike on the road. They allegedly went and murdered Shikha first while Priyanka was sitting at the shop.

Fearing that Priyanka would reveal everything,the accused called her upstairs and strangulated her too. They allegedly took the gold chain,gold earrings and other jewellery from the deceased and fled from the scene.

Police have recovered the jewellery stolen by the accused from the house. The names of the two cropped during the police investigation and based on information collected from the neighbourhood. The two will be produced in court on Wednesday.
