In a bid to streamline development process, the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) and the Municipal Corporation (MC), will jointly work in tandem for the development of Mohali city. A meeting of both the bodies presided by GMADA’s Chief Administrator (CA) Rajiv Kumar Gupta was held on Tuesday at GMADA office to discuss issues to foster development in the city. During the meeting, engineering wing of GMADA brought to the notice of MC Commissioner Navjot Kaur that plans to lay the tertiary water pipeline from STP situated at Sector 83 to Mohali city had been submitted to the corporation for consideration. The Commissioner assured that she would take up the matter with the officials concerned to complete the required formalities and submit the observations to GMADA at the earliest possible. “As both GMADA and MC are looking after the development of the city, there are some areas where the jurisdiction intersects, so the idea was to sit together and brainstorm over issues that need to be addressed on priority,” said the GMADA CA. MC officials also put forth the demand of funds from GMADA to purchase 104-metre-high fire lift and mechanised sweeping machine. They requested for funds to carry out development works in Sector 76-80. The GMADA CA directed the engineering wing to start working on the modalities and apprise him to the earliest so that further action could be taken. Other issues including beautification of city and setting up of roundabouts on accident prone sites were also taken. The engineering wings of both the offices have been tasked to start working on the points discussed in the meeting and a review the progress would be conducted soon.
