A police official said that the student alleged that the academy’s staff had beaten him up and left him at Chandigarh’s ISBT in Sector 43 from where he called his mother, Ankita Shah, and also informed Chandigarh police. Chandigarh police brought the student to Balongi police station.
Speaking to The Indian Express Balongi Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector P S Grewal said that they have registered a case under sections 323 (assault), 506 (criminal intimidation) and, 340 (Whoever wrongfully restrains any person in such a manner as to prevent that person from proceeding beyond certain circumscribing limits) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act against five persons on the complaint of the student’s mother.
According to the police two accused have been identified as Kabir and Hina while three are yet to be identified. Meanwhile, the management of the academy has denied the allegations.
The director of the academy Ranjit Bajaj said, “We haven’t done wrong to anyone. The allegations levelled against Minerva are completely wrong. The student who made the allegation had misbehaved with the director and teacher of Minerva. For this he was resticated. Till date no one has complained about the food of the academy. We provide the best food to our students. The case that the police have put on us is completely wrong. We will appeal against this and will also file a defamation case.”
