Mock counselling for admission to six engineering and architecture institutions in the city and Hoshiarpur will begin on Sunday. A total of 10,000 students have registered for joint admission to the six institutions against 1,600 seats.
Admissions to PEC University of Technology,Sector 14; University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET),Panjab University (PU); Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (CCET),Sector 26; University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (UICET), PU; Swami Sarvanand Giri Panjab University Regional Centre (SSGPURC),Hoshiarpur; and Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA),Sector 12,will be jointly conducted by UIET.
The mock counselling will be conducted online to help students decide their preferences of institutions in accordance with their ranks in the All Indian Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE).
The mock counselling and filling of preferences will begin on July 1,and students will be allowed to change preferences,if needed till July 5. On July 6 and 7,the preferences will be locked (or finalised) and the merit list will be declared online on July 9.
Students will then have to pay the admission fee online between July 9 and 11.
Those who do not get a suitable seat or are not satisfied with the seat allotted to them in the first round of counselling will have to pay a fee to participate in the second and third rounds of counselling.
While for Chandigarh College of Architecture and UICET,Rs 10,000 has been specified as the provisional fee to be paid during the counselling,for the other four institutions,the amount has been specified as Rs 45,000.
