Mobile users told to seek ID proof details

Ropar police have urged mobile phone users to seek details of their identity proofs related to mobile phone SIM cards from the companies concerned to prevent misuse of the cards.

In a statement issued today,Ropar SSP L K Yadav said during the investigations done by the police after arrest of some anti-social elements,it came to light that they were misusing SIM cards issued on fake names. He said if any case regarding the issuance of SIM cards on wrong identity proof came to anyone’s notice,he should immediately lodge a report with the police in this regard. He said if any company failed to provide information regarding the identity proof to mobile phone users,the matter must be brought to the notice of the police.

Yadav asked retailers and distributors of SIM cards to not issue any card without procuring proper identity proof from customers. He said if anyone was found selling or using SIM cards in fake names,action will be taken against them.
