Pracheen Kala Kendra organized its 149th Baithak Programme,where a group of qawwals led by Patiala gharanas Neelay Khan enthralled the audience with a spellbinding musical renditions. Mohammad Sadeeque Neelay Khan has a distinctive style of singing which is a blend of Sufi gaayaki and recitation,reflecting his training in classical music under Ustad Eedu Khan,Ustad Labhu Khan,Ustad Mohammad Shareif,Ustad Baqar Husain and thereafter under the tutelage of Om Prakash Verma. His superb command over language and poetry has received critical acclaim from music critics and audience alike. The hallmark of Neelays singing is his mastery over classical music and perfect understanding of Sufi,qawwali and ghazal gayaki and he fuses them perfectly to bring the complex amalgam within an easy reach of all. The artists,including Neelay Khan,Abdul Hammed,Mehardeen,Mohd. Iqbal,Budhraj,Manak Ali,Billu Khan,Amit Kumar commenced programme with an invocatory salutation Teri sabh ko hai jarurat followed by melodious couplet Pass reh ke bhi fasla before doling out the all-time hit Dama dam mast kalandar The presentation was a perfect amalgam of classicism,poetic elegance and pulsating rhythmic patterns.
