Meet on molecular imaging begins

The 2nd World Congress on Gallium-68 Molecular Imaging and Peptide Targeted Radionuclide Therapy was inaugurated by Dr VK Saraswat,secretary,Defence Research and Development Organisation at the PGIMER on Thursday.

Dr Yogesh Chawla,director PGIMER says,“The hosting of SWC-2013 at PGIMER,Chandigarh has a special significance,as it coincides with the golden jubilee year of the Institute with the celebrations ending with the World Congress. February 28 is National Science Day and there can be no better timing than to begin the conference with so many scientists visiting from around the world.

Professor Baljinder Singh,the congress president said the scientific proceedings of the congress have been compiled and published in the World Journal of Nuclear Medicine (WJNM) as a Congress dedicated ‘Abstracts’ issue.

Earlier a pre-congress workshop held on Wednesday focused on the significant challenges and advances in medical imaging technologies including positron emission computed tomography (PET),single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT),magnetic resonance imaging (MRI),and optical imaging for preclinical research and clinical patient care. The Congress Committee is an international consortium of scientists and physicians,chaired by Professor B R Mittal MD of PGI,and includes PGI medical school graduate Vikas Prasad MD (now of Berlin,Germany),Professor of Radiology Anil Mishra PhD of INMAS,Delhi,and Congress Vice President Dr Anish Bhattacharya PhD of PGI.
