Some of the questions put to the recently victorious Kuldeep Bishnoi by the Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker are worth a mention. Sample this: Which house were you living in when your father was in active politics? Where have you passed your matriculation from and in which year? During college days where did you use to reside? These questions were put to Bishnoi by the Speaker at the time of cross-examination during the hearing of petition against five “defector” MLAs. Taking a dig at the Speaker for asking such “personal” questions,senior lawyer Satya Pal Jain on behalf of Bishnoi said: “Answers to such questions will be beneficial in matrimonial proposals and not defection petitions.” This remark was made during the hearing of Bishnoi’s petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. To this,the Bench quipped that such questions will only lead to divorce.
