If it’s actor Zayed Khan, then the tracks have to be house. If Sohail Khan and friends walk in,the mood is set to retro. “Every actor or celebrity has his or her own choice of music when they are clubbing, and it’s not essentially Bollywood all the time,” says DJ Ashish Nagpal, who performed on Saturday evening at Black Magic in DT Mall. Known as the mixmaster,Nagpal has quite a fan following, including footballer Baichung Bhutia,Prince Ismail of Malaysia,Amit Burman of Dabur,Karan Paul of Apeejay Group,PVR’s Ajay Bijli, actors Fardeen Khan,Priyanka Chopra,Sonal Chauhan,Sherlyn Chopra,Neil Nitin Mukesh,Zulfi Syed among others. “My forte lies in house music, deep house (progressive and chill) and electro and funky house,a lot of retro and club music of the ‘80s and ‘90s,” he says. “A DJ’s job is to play music,to entertain,to make people dance. For me,becoming one with the crowd, and keeping the energy levels high is important,” says the Delhi-based DJ,who has played with international acts like Jerome Is-mae,Matt Samuels,Tristan Garner,Dale Anderson,Atmos and RDB. Up next for him is his own remix album.
