In the run up to the assembly elections the Peoples Party of Punjab (PPP) has opened its door for an alliance with the Left parties. Party chief Manpreet Singh Badal on Thursday said that the PP was open to joining hands with any secular force
we will be tying up with the CPI and CPM. They have a nationalistic and secular agenda. The talks are yet to begin,but we hope to form a formidable alliance, Manpreet said.
He was addressing the mediapersons at the residence of former Akali councillor Jasbir Singh Sham.
Queried about about any possibility of his party allying with Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP),Manpreet said that no discussions have been held so far with the party.
I do not want to boast but we will be forming the next government in the state, claimed Manpreet adding that their alliance would be possibly the only one where the partners adhere to a basic agenda. We do not want anyone to dilute our agenda, he added.
Asked about Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal holding parleys with the Beas MLA Manjinder Singh Kang,who was his supporters,Manpreet said it was up to Kang to decide.
We last spoke with each a few months back. He had said he was not well and needed rest. He had not taken the membership of our party. Only Kang knows which side he is, Manpreet said. Later in the evening,Badal reached at Rajasansi where he welcomed some local leaders into the party.
