Man hacked to death in Punjab’s Derabassi

The police said that assailants attacked the man while trying to save the woman who was travelling with him on his two-wheeler.

DerabassiAccording to the police, the assailants chased the two to a secluded place near Derabassi town and attacked the woman with sharp-edged weapons, while Singh was fatally attacked when he tried to save her.

Two unidentified men in Punjab allegedly hacked to death a private security guard hailing from Mohali while he was on his way to workplace on his two-wheeler along with a woman from his village on Friday morning, the police said.

The deceased has been identified as Karamjeet Singh, 45, a resident of Rampur village near Derabassi town in Punjab. He had offered the woman a lift as they both were going to work on the same route, said an officer.

According to the police, the assailants chased the two to a secluded place near Derabassi town and attacked the woman with sharp-edged weapons, while Singh was fatally attacked when he tried to save her.

He was rushed to Derabassi Civil Hospital where the doctors declared him dead, the officer said.

The police said that one of the assailants is said to be known to the woman.

“The assailants will be arrested soon,” a police officer added.

The police were in the process of registering a case.
