Man arrested for ATM fraud

The accused,who was using the other machine,told the card user to withdraw money from the other machine.

The SHO of the industrial Area police station,Inspector Dilsher Singh,said the ATM card holder inserted his card in other machine and went away after collecting his cash,unmindful of the fact that he had also fed his PIN in the other machine and had not cancelled the command. “It was found during probe that the by pressing a button on the machine it screen gets reactivated and the accused withdrew cash from it. We have received two complaints so far against him and the complainants have identified the accused,” said Dilsher.

Pardeep Kumar,a resident of Sector 20,reported on Tuesday that Rs 20,000 had been withdrawn from his account from the ATM counter in Sector 30. Similarly,Hari Shanker,a resident of Sector 29,alleged that Rs 10,000 had been withdrawn form his account. The description provided by both the complainants and the motorcycle number (PB 65 K 8815) of the suspect matched.

The police laid a picket in Sector 30 last night and apprehended the suspect. Kanwal,is working with a sector 22 based private finance company. He was today produced before a local court,which remanded him to police custody for three days.
