Mohali Police has arrested another person accused of murdering 32-year-old advocate Amarpreet Singh. It was not for the first time that the accused,who have been booked by the Mohali Police,had entered into a scuffle resulting in a police case. Two out of the nine accused named in the FIR by the Mohali police have three cases each registered against them. All the cases involve a quarrel.

Sunil Bhanot,a resident of Sector 45,Chandigarh has three cases registered against him in Chandigarh. Also,Deepak Kaushal,a resident of Phase 3A,who also owns one of the vehicles impounded by the police in connection with the case,has three cases in which he had been a part of an altercation.

Jaswinder Singh,son of a member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC),Ranjit Singh,was arrested Sunday. For arresting the other six accused who are yet absconding,teams have been sent to suspected locations,said SSP GS Bhullar.

The accused Jaswinder Singh had reportedly completed his schooling from Ludhiana last year. Two other accused who were nabbed by the residents of the locality,Onkar Singh and Sanbir Singh are in police custody till March 6.

According to the police,Onkar Singh,a resident,worked as a driver in Amritsar while Sanbir is the owner of Alpha Mall in partnership. The others include Rajat,a resident of Sector 51,Chandigarh,Keval,a resident of Kharar and the two who had hired the room,Dharminder Grewal,a resident of Ludhiana and Vishal Shekhawat,a resident of Sector 50,Chandigarh.

All the accused were students of Panjab University and other colleges in the city.

As per the police,the accused are also drug addicts and were drinking a hookah just before the incident took place on the evening of February 27. Amarpreet Singh was gunned down by the group of nine persons in an altercation over parking the cars in the locality.

After the altercation,the group of nine persons came back with weapons and opened fire at Amarpreet,his cousin Simranjeet and a friend,Gaganjot. While Gaganjot and Simranjeet sustained bullet injures and were operated for the same,Amarpreet died.
