Though Punjab is expecting to harvest over 21 lakh metric tonnes of potato this year,it and the Northern states might yet have to depend on other states to provide them with potatoes fit for human consumption.

MOHAN Singh,a resident of Moti Nagar,was arrested on Sunday after 13 years of a court declaring him a proclaimed offender. He was arrested by Focal Point police. He was working in an industrial unit in the city.
A case was registered against him in 1996 under the Arms Act at Focal Point police station.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Jaswinder Singh said he was booked after a country-made pistol was recovered from the accused in 1996. Later,he was released on bail but he never appeared before the court.
The court had declared him a proclaimed offender. On Sunday,police arrested him from Kailash Nagar. On Monday,he will be produced before the court
