One Punjabi wedding looks much like the other, with celebrities, luxe decor, elaborate outfits and lavish menus. “Only the colour of the drapes and flowers look different,” says entrepreneur RS Rawal, who recently launched a wedding planning company called ‘Boutique Weddings’. The company promises to add a dash of individuality to weddings with an array of themes. You could opt for an underwater wedding or choose to marry on a cruise liner en route the Caribbean Sea. If a couple wants a wild wedding, the company can find a romantic forest for the ceremony. Rawal, who promoted the concept of farmhouse weddings 12 years ago,now plays a film clip of a new theme where the bride and groom come down in a closed lotus and walk out as it lands on the aisle,a glass floor with water gushing under it. The sound of ripples form the mood, with blue and white flowers complementing the set. The bride, looking as if she’s living through her dream wedding, completes the picture.
