Karnal murder: Cell records points to Zile Ram’s house

Meanwhile,the State Crime Branch,which is presently investigating the matter,has scrutinised Karam Singh’s mobile phone records and found that his phone operated in the vicinity of Zile Ram Sharma’s residence. The call records show that he made a distress call to his worker at his shop in Karnal’s Subhash gate market complex.

During the probe,the investigating agency has found that Karam Singh’s mobile phone (098132-60316),from which he first called his worker Ramesh on his mobile at around 8 am,was operational under the network of the same mobile phone tower,which caters to the cellular network in and around Zile Ram Sharma’s residence.

“We scrutinised the mobile tower locations of the victim’s phone and tracked his movement,which indicated that the first call,made by him at around 8 am,was routed through the same mobile tower,which caters to the location in and around the former CPS’ residence,” said a senior police officer.

Sources said Karam Singh made the phone call while he was present inside Zile Ram Sharma’s residence. He told his worker Ramesh,too,that he was inside Zile Ram’s residence. The FIR,registered on the basis of a complaint made by his son Rajinder,also mentions,“My father called our worker Ramesh and told him that he was calling from Zile Ram Sharma’s residence and would go to the Rest House for a while and then come to the shop.”

Karam Singh’s body was found near National Dairy Research Institute,Karnal,which is around five kilometers away from Zile Ram Sharma’s residence. Karam Singh’s mobile phone records also show his location changing from Sector 7,Karnal towards NDRI,Karnal.

During the 30-minute duration,from the first phone call to the last,there were three phone calls made to Ramesh’s phone from Karam Singh’s mobile phone. “The caller kept on changing locations. I also spoke with him and asked him to tell me where exactly my father was,but he kept on changing locations and finally when we were asked to move towards NDRI,I located my father lying near a treet next to NDRI,” Rajinder told Express.

“A number of people are being questioned,including Zile Ram Sharma’s staff. As the allegations are there in the FIR that Karam Singh told one of his workers that he was proceeding out of Zile Ram’s residence towards a Rest House,with Zile Ram’s driver and two other persons,we are verifying the facts,” said a senior Haryana police officer.

But Zile Ram denied it. “I never knew Karam Singh,and had never met him as well. I was away at Salasar,Rajasthan and I have proofs to substantiate it,” he said.
