Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) Youth state president Digvijay Singh Chautala. (X)The Haryana Police has initiated a probe after Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) Youth state president Digvijay Singh Chautala received a disturbing video from a foreign member.
The 16-second clip — sent to his cellphone at 9:27 pm on Tuesday — showed purported gunfire directed at a statue of slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala which Digvijay had installed in Sawant Khera village, Sirsa district, ahead of the October 2024 Assembly elections.
Alongside the video, a threatening text message claiming “Sidhu Moose Wala had already been eliminated, and his sympathisers would be next” was also sent to Digvijay.
Following this incident, an FIR was registered at the Dabwali city police station on Wednesday, a police spokesperson told The Indian Express.
Without referring to the alleged threat, his elder brother and former state deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala criticised the BJP government, saying: “Today, the state has a missing government, and the situation is extremely poor. Looking at the deteriorating law and order, it seems police are missing, and goons have become deputies… The government has no concern for the safety of the public, as in all the 22 districts, criminals are fearlessly carrying out major crimes daily, and police are doing nothing.”
He was addressing the media during his visit to Jind on Thursday.
Earlier, Karan Singh Chautala, the son of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) president Abhay Singh Chautala, had also submitted a written complaint at the Sector 3 police station, Chandigarh, alleging that he received a threatening WhatsApp call and message targeting his father nearly two weeks ago.
In the police complaint, he mentioned he had received the phone call at around 11 pm on July 14 from an unknown number. The caller had, however, disconnected the phone call soon after he answered it. Shortly afterwards, Karan received a WhatsApp message from the same number, containing abusive language and “a direct threat, warning of severe consequences, if his father came in their way”. Abhay Singh is the uncle of Digvijay.
