Jasvir powers GMSSS-26 into final

Buoyed by Jasvir Singh's allround performance (43 runs and 2 for 19),Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 26,recorded a fine fourwicket win over Banyan Tree School,Sector 48,in a match during the ongoing UT Inter School cricket tournament for U-19 Boys,played at GMSSS,Sector 19,Chandigarh.

Chandigarh:Buoyed by Jasvir Singh’s allround performance (43 runs and 2 for 19),Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 26,recorded a fine fourwicket win over Banyan Tree School,Sector 48,in a match during the ongoing UT Inter School cricket tournament for U-19 Boys,played at GMSSS,Sector 19,Chandigarh. With this win,GMSSS,Sector 26,qualified for the finals. GMSSS,Sector 26,will take on DAV School,Sector 8,in the final. On winning the toss,BTS team decided to bat first. BTS team posted a total of 118 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Shine Sharma batted superbly to score valuable 46 runs while Manpreet chipped in with 28 runs. For GMSSS,Sector 26,leg-spinner Anil Kumar scalped three wickets for 17 runs. Anil was supported by Jasvir in the bowling department,as he grabbed two wickets. In reply,GMSSS,Sector 26,batsmen Deepak (48) and Jasvir (43) batted well to enable their team to beat BTS.

Kho-kho trophy on the anvil

Chandigarh:MDAV School,Sector 42 will organise the Third Luxmi Arya Memorial Kho-Kho Trophy (U-14 boys and girls) from November 19 to November 21 at the school premises. Interested school teams can contact Surinder Singh Bhandari on 9814630280 for entries and the last date for entries is November 10. Players born on or after January 1,1999 are eligible to take part in the championship. The entry fee per team is Rs 350.

Carrom tournament from November 11

Chandigarh:14th Raj Kumar Babuta Memorial Prize Money Carrom Ranking Tournament from November 11 at St Stephen’s School,Sector 45. The tournament will be played in men’s singles,boys’ singles (Junior),boys singles’ (Sub-junior),women’s singles’,girls singles’ (Junior) and girls singles’ (sub-junior) categories.

Players under the age of 18 years as on December 31,2012 are eligible to take part in junior category while players below 14 years as on December 31,2012 will be eligible to take part in sub-junior category. The top three position holders in each event will be given cash prizes while the top eight position holders will earn ranking points for selection in Chandigarh team for upcoming national championships.

Jashjot guides BECC into final

Patiala:A fine century by Jashjot (132) guided hosts Black Elephant Cricket Club to a 139-run win over CCA,Chandigarh and into the final of the Dushera Cup U-15 Invitation Cricket Tournament. Batting first,BECC posted a total of 283 for 8 in the allotted 50 overs. Jashjot played a superb knock of 132 runs while Amarjeet Singh made 56 runs. For CCA,Amardeep claimed four wicket for 42 runs. In reply,CCA were bundled out for a total of 144 runs. For the winning team Ramandeep claimed three wickets for 15 runs. In the other semi-final,AGA defeated DCF,Delhi.
