An international conference on 'Wireless Networks and Embedded Systems' was inaugurated at Chitkara Institute of Engineering and Technology in Rajpura campus near here on Friday.

An international conference on ‘Wireless Networks and Embedded Systems’ (WECON-2009) was inaugurated at Chitkara Institute of Engineering and Technology in Rajpura campus near here on Friday.

Dr C P Ravikumar,technical director,University Relations,Texas Instruments (India),inaugurated the two-day conference organised by the Department of Electronics in association with George Brown College,Canada.

Dr Ravikumar spoke about the phenomenal developments in the field of embedded systems and the natural progression from semi-conductors to VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration).

“It is a wireless world,” was the theme of the keynote address by Professor Jorge Olenewa from George Brown College. Earlier,Dr Madhu Chitkara,Director General,Chitkara Group of Institutes,welcomed the chief guest. She shared her fascination for technology and explained how recent developments in wireless communication,backed by embedded systems,have become indispensable in the modern world.

Around 150 delegates from India and abroad attended the conference while over 250 technical papers were received,of which 160 papers were selected for publication and presentation. Engineering students participated in a competition on digital poster presentation.
