Seeking to curb defection within its ranks ahead of the polls for the Panchkula Municipal Corporation (PMC),the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has constituted a committee which will vet the candidatures for the polls. The committee will visit different wards to elicit the response of the people about the popularity of candidates. Some of the members of the party have staked a claim on certain wards.
In some of the wards, the party foresees that keeping the flock together will be a challenge,as there are wards on which as many as five members from the political party have staked their claim as candidates for the polls.
The INLD MLA from Pinjore,Pradeep Chaudhary, said that a five-member committee headed by senior leader Abhay Chautala will clear the candidature of the people for the polls. The party is holding a meet on Saturday in the city to decide on the strategy for the polls. Chaudhary said that senior leader,Abhay Chautala, will head the meeting on Saturday that will be attended by at least 10 youth representing one polling booth. There are 230 polling booths which have been set up in Panchkula for the polls.
The party has set up a district urban body for Panchkula headed by party leader Manoj Agarwal.
INLD leader Chaudhary said that since there are a number of claimants on each ward, the candidature will be cleared by a five-member committee headed by Abhay Chautala. He said that the party will make the popularity of the candidate the basis for clearing the nominations, adding that it will field candidates on all the 20 wards of the corporation.
