UT adds more calories to mid-day meal
CHANDIGARH:The menu under the mid-day meal of Sarva Sikhsha Abhiyan in the city has been revised by adding more calories to the food. Home Secretary Ram Niwas held a meet with senior officers and representatives of institutes like CITCO,Chandigarh Institute of Hotel Management sector 42,Dr Ambedkar institute of Hotel Management Sector 42 on Friday. These institutes are already providing mid-day meals to schools but now the emphasis has been on providing more nutritious and delicious food. The Administration has been providing mid-day meals to around 70,000 students of 318 primary schools,167 upper primary schools and 9000 students of 207 Alternative and Innovative centers including madrasas.
Surprise check at markets,five firms fined
CHANDIGARH:Surprise checks were conducted in the Grain Market and Subzi Mandi,Sector 26,by members of the Market Committee. Five firms were found to be evading market fees as well as violating the terms of the Punjab Agriculture Produce Market Act. The defaulters on whom penalty was imposed include Devender Kumar Khanna and Company,Prem Singh Gurbachan Singh,New Guru Nanak Alu Company,Subhash Vegetable Company and Hanuman Trading Company.
Citco fuel station comes up in Sec 56
CHANDIGARH:UT Home Secretary Ram Niwas inaugurated CITCOs fuel station in Sector 56 on Friday. Niwas inspected the premises and asked the chief general manager,CITCO,to have a convenience store at the station. Petrol at the station will be Rs 4.76 cheaper than Punjab. CITCO is managing the fuel station in Sector 9 since 1993.
