Maintaining their supremacy,sisters Arunima Goyal and Tarini Goyal,along with six few other players were leading with one point each at the end of first round on the first day of the Chandigarh Women’s Chess Championship being organised by Chandigarh Chess Association at St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School,Sector 44,Chandigarh. It was a cakewalk for top rated women players who sailed very easily to the second round. Powered by 106-run second wicket partnership between Abhilash captain Sharma (63 no) and Karan Chauhan (32 no),DPACA Green recorded facile nine-wicket win over DPACA Blue in the Blue Chilly Summer league match played at St Stephen’s School-45,Chandigarh on Saturday.DPACA Green won the toss and elected to field. Taking control of bowling first,DPACA Green bowlers bowled fine spell to bowl out DPACA Blue at 116 in 28.3 overs. Jagpreet (3 for 24) and Siddharth (3 for 18) stuck to disciplined line and length to emerge as sucessful bowlers. Himanshu Khattar (31) and Karan Aggarwal (20) made useful contributions for DPACA Blue team. In reply to the total,DPACA Green achieved the target with ease losing just one wicket.Captain Abhilash played a fluent unbeaten knock of 63 runs to take his team to win.

GMSSS-22 lord over St Marry’s
Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 22,drubbed St Marry’s Public School,Sector 46,by 4-0 in the ongoing Pre-Subroto Football Tournament played in Chandigarh on Saturday.Donald,Raman,Sham Thapa and Nikhil scored each goal for the winning team. In the second match of the day,St. John’s High School-26 beat Tribune Model School-29 by 3-0 to surge ahead.Harshil scored two goals while Nitin scored one goal for St John’s School.Meanwhile,match between Govt. Model High School-36 and St. Kabir School-26 was postponed due to rain.
