Tennis tourney from May 31
Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA) will host its sixth tournament of the year in the form of AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament for under-16 and under-12 Boys and Girls from May 31. Showing good response for the tournament,as many as 147 players signed-in. There were 73 entries in boys’ U-16,42 in boys U-12 and 23 in girls’ U-16. All the nine players in the girls’ U-12 category will get into Main Draw as there are no qualifying matches. Following are the players to get wild card entries:
Boys: U-12:
Anmol Rattab Kamboj,Neeraj Yashpaul,Siggharth Basnet,Rohit Kumar;Boys: U-16: Raghav Talwar,Param Pun,Nirbhay Singh Soin,Rahul Seth; Girls: U-16: Shweta Sangwan,Sabrina Gill,Gayatri K,Aashima Garg.
Coaching camp from June 1
Rainbow Club for Special Children,Patiala would organise a summer coaching camp for special children from June 1 to 15. According to Nancy Ghuman,President of the club,training would be provided to mentally challenged,deaf and dumb,and blind children for 15 days. In this camp,they will learn all types of aerobics,jazz aerobics,taekwondo and martial arts.
Ashish bowls Black Elephant to win
A superb five-wicket haul by Ashish Karki inspired hosts Black Elephant Cricket Club (BECC) to a huge 112-run win over Agra Cricket Association in the 10th Hot Weather (Under-14) Cricket Tournament being held in Patiala. Batting first,the BECC team scored 249 for 6 in 35 overs. Navkaran top scored with 61 runs. Apart from him,Harmeek Singh (57) and Atul (54 no) slammed half-centuries each to help the team post a mammoth total. In reply,the Agra batsmen failed to come up with any noteworthy contributions and were bundled out for 137 in 27.4 overs. In another match of the day,Delhi Blue got the better of Indian Power Cricket Academy,Yamunanagar by four wickets. Batting first,IPCA Yamunagar managed 96 runs in 26 overs. Delhi boys chased the target in 21.3 overs after losing six wickets.
Double delight for Haryana
Haryana boys outplayed Uttar Pradesh 5-2 in the final match to claim the 55th Hockey Tournament played at Moti Lal Nehru School in Sonepat on Friday. Meanwhile,Haryana girls beat Chandigarh to claim the girls’ title. The tournament which went for five days,was for boys and girls in the U-19 age category. Rahiv Dadal,Director General of Police,Haryana,presented trophies to the winning teams.
