Two IPS officers transferred
The Punjab government on Tuesday transferred two IPS officers. As per the orders issued by the state Home Department,Additional Director General of Police S K Sharma has been posted as ADGP (HRD-cum-Community Policing) and Gaurav Yadav,Police Jalandhar Police Commissioner has been given additional charge of DIG (Security).

Heroin smuggler escapes from custody
Lakhvir Singh,a heroin smuggler,who was caught by the Fazilka police last week,escaped from custody in early hours of Tuesday. Ferozepur SSP S P S Parmar issued orders to suspend homeguard Boor Singh and munshi Randhir Singh. A departmental action has also been initiated against SHO Baljit Singh. An FIR has also been registered against Boor Singh and Randhir Singh. Lakhvir was caught with heroin worth Rs 15 crore last week and he was to be presented before the court on Tuesday. He,however,broke the windows of the jail and escaped early in the morning.

Direct flight from Delhi to Nanded
A direct flight from Delhi to Nanded in Maharashtra started from Tuesday. According to sources,a flight of the Go Air company took off at 6 am and reached Nanded in three hours. All devotees who travelled through this flight were welcomed at the Guru Gobind Singh Airport.

SGPC member dies
SGPC member Balwant Singh Beer Behman died on Tuesday after a brief illness. He was 78. Father of Bathinda Mayor Baljeet Singh Beer Behman,Balwant was a confidant of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. Bathinda Member of Parliament Harsimrat Badal and Congress MLA Makhan Singh were among others who attended the cremation.
