‘Abolish leasehold system for sale of commercial property in Chandigarh’
Members of the Chandigarh Beopar Mandal gave a representation to UT Administrator General S F Rodrigues (Retd) for abolishing the leasehold system for sale of commercial property in Chandigarh. The representation states that the low interest of buyers in the purchase of commercial properties as compared to residential ones in the recent auctions reflects the fallout of the current leasehold system for commercial properties. The lease money makes the commercial properties unviable for small and medium traders,who want to own their business establishments.

CITDC chief given additional charge of CHB
Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation Managing Director D K Tiwari has been given the additional charge of the Chandigarh Housing Board Chairman from December 21 to January 3. This has been done after CHB chairman Mohanjeet Singh proceeded on election duty. The charge of the post of Municipal Commissioner will be looked after by Additional Commissioner P K Sharma till December 27,2009.

Dhumal inaugurates Chitkara University
Parwanoo: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal dedicated Chitkara University to the state on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion,he said the state government had decided to give top priority to higher professional education in the state. Himachal Urban Development Authority,which had established Atal Nagar in Solan as its education hub,had invited leading institutes to set up their campuses in the area. The CM said he was happy to learn that all fifteen programs launched by the university were industry integrated.
