The Christian community in Jalandhar took out a procession in the city on Friday,demanding the arrest of those responsible for publishing ‘controversial’ pictures of Jesus Christ. A few miscreants started pelting stones as the group passed through the Football Chowk. SP City-I Dr S K Kalia said the situation was soon brought under control. Meanwhile,shopkeepers in the border towns of Fatehgarh Churian and Majitha were forced to close shops after a group of boys took to streets,damaging public property. The police,here too,said the situation was under control.

‘NYKS to recruit 20,000 volunteers’
As many as 20,000 volunteers will be recruited by the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) under National Youth Corps,as part of the agenda announced by President Pratibha Patil,said Amardeep Singh Cheema,National Vice-chairman NYKS,on Friday. Cheema said this was the initiative of Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr Manohar Singh Gill.
